A Soil Health Workshop is set for Tuesday, March 20 in Westville, Indiana, at Herrold Farms located at 7707 South US 421 in their farm shop. The workshop will provide attendees with information on cover crop benefits, focusing on soil health issues and use of cover crops in specialty crop rotations on the Herrold Farms. There will also be a discussion of “bugs in a jug”, reviewing the efficacy of biofertilizers, biostimulants and biological controls of crop pests. The workshop will also provide the mandatory dicamba training for private and commercial applicators. The program will begin with registration at 8:00 a.m. CDT and presentations run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. CDT. Participants wanting the credits offered for private (PARP) or commercial applicators (CCHs) or certified crops advisers (CEUs) will need to attend the entire morning session. Applicators are asked to bring their licenses and $10 PARP fee. Lunch will be provided to those who RSVP thanks to the Cover Crops Champions program. Reservations are requested by March 15.
