The La Porte County Drug Task Force announces the arrest of four individuals, for various charges including two separate narcotics, and weapons related cases. The first investigation resulted in the arrest of Cameo M. CRAWFORD (20) of Michigan City on Wednesday April 18th, 2018, after an arrest warrant was issued for his arrest by La Porte County Superior Court #1 for Dealing in Cocaine Level 3 Felony. CRAWFORD was observed leaving a residence in the 1000 Block of Salem Street in Michigan City, and was quickly apprehended by The La Porte County Drug Task Force, and F.A.S.T. Team. A subsequent search of the residence that CRAWFORD was observed exiting, resulted in the seizure of two firearms, marijuana, ecstasy, and US Currency; and the arrest of Danielle M. JARRETT (29) of Michigan City, for Maintaining a Common Nuisance Level 6 Felony, and two counts of Neglect of a Dependent Level 6 Felony. CRAWFORD remains in The La Porte County Jail, on a $45,000 cash only bond, pending his case. JARRETT was booked into The La Porte County Jail, and later posted a $750 cash bond.

On Tuesday April 24th, 2018, the second investigation resulted in the arrest of Cevin J. CRAWFORD (20) of Michigan City. The La Porte County Drug Task Force, Fugitive Apprehension Street Team, Indiana State Police, and Michigan City SWAT Team apprehended CRAWFORD at a residence in the 200 Block of Bies Street in Michigan City, after information was obtained that CRAWFORD was inside. CRAWFORD was wanted through La Porte County Superior Court #1 for Possession of a Firearm without a permit Level 5 Felony, and Council Bluffs, Iowa for Robbery 2nd Degree, Burglary 1st and 3rd Degree. After executing a search warrant at the Bies Street residence, a handgun was located, which resulted in CRAWFORD being charged with another count of Possession of a Firearm without a permit Level 5 Felony, and the arrest of Kabrya L. ECKWOOD (22) of Michigan City, on charges of Assisting a Criminal Level 6 Felony, Resisting Law Enforcement “A” Misdemeanor, Disorderly Conduct “B” Misdemeanor, and Possession of Marijuana “B” Misdemeanor.

The La Porte County Drug Task Force remains committed to investigating criminal activity throughout La Porte County, specifically those crimes committed with firearms, and those legally forbidden to possess them. The La Porte County Drug Task Force, and Fugitive Apprehension Street Team remind citizens that assisting wanted individuals could result in prosecution, per Indiana Statute 35-44.1-2-5.
