The City of Michigan City is excited to welcome back Roger Brooks for a public presentation on the progress of the Plaza.  Roger will also assess the City on our progress to implement thier Branding Master Plan.
For all those who are participating in and tracking the progress of the Michigan City Comeback, this is a MUST ATTEND event.
Please join them August 9th at 6:00pm for hors d’oeuvres, comments by Mayor Ron Meer and then the 6:30pm presentation by Roger Brooks. The event will be held at the future site of the Plaza at 7th and Franklin.
The Plaza is a key component to the revitalization of Michigan City. This effort will be possible with the development of a public assembly space, or plaza, that will be programmed 250 or more days a year with activity that can be enjoyed by ALL residents of Michigan City, regardless of age, gender, income or any other factor. Nearly all activity will be open to the public and free of charge. Some of the plaza options include public restrooms, a 5,000-7,000-square foot splash pad, 8,000-10,000-square foot ice skating rink, a permanent stage, lighting and sound system, abundant seating, raised planters, room for vendors and Farmers Market events, space to host events and much more. This is a monumental project to help create a vibrant city center that can be enjoyed by all.
Michigan City is becoming the incredible poster child for how to make things happen for ALL Midwest cities and a model for other communities to follow. This is just the beginning of an incredibly bright future for the people of Michigan City and your downtown.
