Mayor Ron Meer is happy to announce that the City of Michigan City was just awarded a $1,000,000.00 matching grant (the maximum amount possible) to be used towards our roads from the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program from the State of Indiana.
Mayor Ron Meer said on Tuesday, “This was a special team effort by the City of Michigan City and our consultants which allowed us to maximize our revenue and make this tremendous investment into our City’s future. This is especially important as the extreme temperatures this past winter have taken a major toll on our local road system. This $1,000,000 grant will give us the ability to do more road projects while maintaining the high standards for our roads that I have made a priority in my administration.”
The Mayor gave a special thanks to the team that included Tim Haas and Tom Weinmann of Haas and Associates, Hesham Khalil and Martin Bobcek of Global Engineering, Jay Niec of SEH of Indiana, City Engineer, Charles “Spike” Peller, Mayor Administrator, Kalon Kubik and
City Attorney, Amber Lapaich for all their hard work putting together this incredibly important grant application and achieving this success.
