In support of Northwest Indiana’s First Responders

On Friday, September 20th at the MAAC in Valparaiso, law enforcement officers, police and fire chiefs, along with State Senator Ed Charbonneau, State Representative Ed Soliday, State Representative Lisa Beck, and State Representative Michael Aylesworth will hold a press conference in support of a $1.0 million capital campaign to support the construction of training structures and additional classroom space on the MAAC campus.

Since inception, the MAAC’s sole focus has been to meet the training demands of the men and women who chose to wear the uniform. “We are committed to this vision, and strive every day to honor these individuals and the professions they’ve chosen to serve in. With the support of the community, we can continue to provide them with the proper training resources they need to do their jobs well.” states Chief Stewart G. McMillan.

The expansion of the classrooms will include virtual reality and simulator based training. By utilizing simulator and virtual reality, law enforcement officers can be better trained in a realistic scenario based environment. Firefighters can improve incident communications and all first responders can be monitored, deficiencies identified, errors corrected and proper training given prior to mistakes being made in the public setting. The press conference will be held:
