On Monday February 17th, 2020 at approximately 11:00pm, several units with the Michigan City Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Julianna Dr. after a report of a subject shot multiple times. Upon arrival, a 28-year-old male subject was located with several non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. This same subject was transported to Franciscan St. Anthony Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
The Michigan City Police Department’s Investigative Division and the La Porte County Drug Task Force were called in to process the scene which contained a substantial amount of illegal drugs, US currency and firearms.The investigation is ongoing and anyone with any information is urged to contact the lead detective on this case, Corporal Kyle Shiparski at 219-874-3221 Ext: 1011 or Corporal Michelle Widelski at Ext:1088. In light of recent consecutive incidents involving gunplay, the Michigan City Police Department will be implementing additional teams over the next few weeks to target illegal gun possession through proactive policing efforts. Chief Dion Campbell wants to assure the public that their safety is of the
utmost importance to the men and women of this department, and these activities will not be tolerated. It is to be noted that the recent incidents were all isolated and not connected in any form.
