The City of La Porte today announced Tim Werner as its new Water Superintendent, according to Mayor Tom Dermody.

Werner began his career with the water department in 2011 as a construction laborer and has worked his way through the ranks, being promoted to Facilities Maintenance Supervisor in 2014 by former Water Superintendent Todd Taylor.

Taylor held the position of superintendent for 41 years. Dermody said though Taylor and his experience will be tough to replace, he thinks Werner is up to the task.

“Between his positive attitude and leadership skills, I know Tim will be a great fit for this position,” Dermody said. “The City of La Porte has some big projects lined up and we are excited to have someone with fresh ideas to lead the charge for the water department. We are thrilled to welcome him to the city leadership team and have no doubt that he will succeed in his new role.”

Werner and his wife Jackie reside in La Porte, where they were both born and raised. A proud Slicer, Werner graduated from La Porte High School in 1998.

Werner started the position July 1. He can be reached at TWerner@CityOfLaPorteIN.gov or by calling the Water Department at 219-326-9540.
