Sheriff John T. Boyd is announcing the promotion of Deputy Andrew D. Hahn to the rank of Sergeant, effective July 4th, 2020.

Sergeant Hahn is a 2001 graduate of Michigan City High School and a lifelong resident of La Porte County.  He began his career as a jail deputy with the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office in March of 2005.

In February of 2008, Sergeant Hahn was transferred/promoted to the Merit (Patrol) Division.  He is an honor graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, Basic Recruit Class 2008173.  Upon graduation from the academy, Sergeant Hahn began working in the Patrol Division.  In January of 2014, he was selected as a K-9 handler.

Sergeant Hahn is assigned to the Midnight Shift.  In addition to his supervisor responsibilities, Sergeant Hahn will continue to serve as a K-9 handler.

Sergeant Hahn resides in rural Wills Township with his wife and son.

This promotion is the result of the retirement of Sergeant Kevin Ulam, who recently retired after a 32-year career with the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office.
