Goodwill Industries of Michiana, Inc. has received a $10M donation from writer and philanthropist, MacKenzie Scott. As a signatory of the Giving Pledge (developed by Warren Buffett and Bill and Melinda Gates), Scott has committed to give the majority of her wealth to address society’s most pressing problems. Her team selected 384 non-profits from an exhaustive review of 6,490 organizations. “ We are honored and humbled to receive this generous gift. It will allow us to accelerate our vision to reach the neediest individuals in our communities, and further develop our employees at Goodwill. It will also provide the funds to collaborate with our fellow non-profits to fill in the gaps where services are not currently provided for those facing the greatest hardships. Having such a generous gift bestowed upon us confirms that the work we and our partners are doing is life changing for many ,” comments Debie Coble, President and CEO. This investment arrives at a time when so many are unemployed and urgently need help finding work and building a new career path. As the country’s largest non-profit workforce development provider, Goodwill is dedicated to closing the skills gap and eliminating the associated challenges created by inequities. Serving Northern Indiana, Southwest Michigan and Southeast Chicagoland – Goodwill Industries of Michiana’s Mission is to strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through Education, Training and Job Placement.
