City of La Porte Police officers responded over the weekend to a shooting at a local bar, according to Chief of Detectives Sgt. Jim Ferguson.
In the early morning hours of Saturday, January 9, officers were dispatched to Lucky Bar, located at 1004 Lincolnway in La Porte, regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers found a male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was then transported to IU Method Hospital in Indianapolis where he is currently in stable condition.
Multiple witnesses identified the suspect, who had fled before officers arrived. Arrest warrants are currently being sought for the suspect. The disturbance appears to be an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to the public at this time.
Due to the ongoing investigation, Ferguson said names are being withheld at this time. Individuals with any information are encouraged to contact Det. Sgt. Victor Aguilar at the police department. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
