Season tickets are now on sale for the 49th season of the La Porte County Symphony Orchestra (LCSO).
Led by Music Director, Dr. Carolyn Watson , the LCSO will present three season concerts on Saturday, November 13, 2021, Sunday, March 13, 2022 , and Saturday, April 23, 2022 .
The November 13 concert is titled “A Jazzy American Salute!” featuring works of Leonard Bernstein, William Grant Still and Artie Shaw. Petar Smilev will be featured as a clarinet soloist on Shaw’s “Clarinet Concerto.”
The March 13 concert will feature works of Verdi including Overture to “La Forza Del Destino”, Tchaikvosky’s Rococo Variations with cellist, Hannah Collins, as well as his “Symphony No. 5.“
The April 23 concert, titled “Film Fest,” will feature various works by American Composer, John Williams, including selections from “Star Wars” and “Harry Potter”.
Carolyn Watson will be entering her first year as the LCSO’s Music Director. A native of Australia, Watson originally came to Interlochen as a result of an international conductor search. Presently, as the Director of Orchestra Studies at the University of Kansas, Watson is in demand as a guest conductor in the United States, Europe and Australia. An avid music educator, she also serves as a guest conductor/clinician with several All-State orchestras around the country.
