Two people accused of robbery were apprehended Wednesday night in Michigan City.
At about 7:10 p.m., dispatch received a 911 call from a 27-year-old Michigan City resident who indicated he had just been robbed of his currency at the BP gas station located at 1204 Franklin Street. Officers responded to the scene. The first officer to arrive on scene began speaking with the victim. During this conversation, the victim provided a description of the two male suspects. The officer recalled they had passed two men matching the description on their way to the gas station. The officer radioed this information to the other responding officers. An officer was able to locate the two men in the 1100 block of Cedar Street. The officer exited his patrol car to detain the suspects but despite being told to stop, the two fled on foot. Both were soon caught and taken into custody. The property taken from the victim was also recovered.
The suspects were identified as 22-year-old Chance Bowlin of Kingsford Heights and 19- year-old Christopher Plantz of La Porte. The on-scene investigation led to the establishment of probable cause to arrest both suspects for robbery and resisting law enforcement.
As of Friday, both suspects were being held in the LaPorte County Jail, without bond, pending a hearing before a judge. The victim in this case was transported to Franciscan Hospital for treatment of the injuries he received during this incident. The injuries were not life threatening.
