A Michigan City man is facing multiple charges after a child abuse investigation, according to police.

A detective initiated a child abuse investigation involving multiple children on Aug. 9, 2023 after receiving a formal complaint from the Indiana Department of Child Services. Multiple interviews were conducted and evidence was collected that resulted in his investigation being forwarded to the LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Office for a probable cause review, police said. The investigation was then forwarded to LaPorte County Superior Court 4.

Probable cause was found on Sept. 11, to charge 37-year-old Michigan City resident Anthony Johnson Jr. with seven counts of child molesting, six counts of rape and one count of vicarious sexual gratification.

An arrest warrant was issued for Johnson Jr. on Sept. 11, for the above charges and he was issued a $100,000 cash only bond. Johnson Jr. was arrested on Sept. 17. His initial hearing is scheduled for Tuesday Spt. 19 in LaPorte County Superior Court 1.
