A motorist was injured Tuesday morning, in a three-vehicle accident on Ind. 49 in Washington Township, the Town of Chesterton reported on their Facebook page.
According to the Porter County Sheriff’s Police, at around 8 a.m. the motorist, operating a Jeep SUV, was southbound on Ind. 49 when, south of County Road 600 North, she crossed the grass median and struck two other vehicles northbound on Ind. 49. Only the Jeep’s driver was injured and she was transported to a local hospital, police said. Northbound Ind. 49 was temporarily closed.
Police said on Tuesday that drugs and alcohol were not believed to be a factor and the female driver may have had a medical emergency which led to the crash.
