Press release by NAACP Michigan City LaPorte County Branch 3061:

The 2023 NAACP Indiana State Conference Annual Convention will be held at Purdue Northwest, Westville Campus, November 2-5. Our theme is “Thriving Together.”

Michigan City LaPorte County Branch 3061 serves as host. Our Convention opens with a:
Press Conference
Thursday, 10 AM CST, November 2, 2023
Dworkin Center, Purdue Northwest, South Dr. entrance
1401 S. U.S. 421
Westville, IN 46391

Michigan City LaPorte County Branch President Wes Scully will welcome the press and public. Conference President Barbara Bolling-Williams will officiate. She said,

“Our theme this year, ‘Thriving Together’, is a reminder that we are on a journey, we have not arrived yet. It could be a journey for a just society, a clean and healthy environment, educational success for all our children, etc. That journey can and does look different for everyone, but we must recognize the interconnection, that if we are to achieve our individual goals, then we collectively must work together. Anything less or else is counter intuitive. The speakers for the weekend will uplift and make the case for what better and best looks like in many different ways. For veterans, our health, educationally, financially, there is something for everyone. You must take the next step and come out to get it”

This Convention draws community leaders from across Indiana. Most will stay in Michigan City.

The LaPorte County Tourism Board has graciously arranged local Conference transportation for the delegates.

Indiana Black Expo (IBE) assists with all onsite registration services throughout the convention.

Branch President Wes Scully said,

“The Indiana State Conference of the NAACP is a time when we come together to
learn, build, and revitalize – highlighting this year’s theme ‘THRIVING TOGETHER.’
It is an honor to be the host branch for such a great occasion. We welcome our state
President, Mrs. Barbara Bolling-Williams, statewide and local participants to our great
city and county. Enjoy your stay!”

Donnita Scully, Secretary, NAACP Michigan City LaPorte County Branch 3061
