On Friday, Michigan City Mayor Duane Parry awarded all proceeds from the Mayor’s Ball to three of his favorite charites.
These charites and their representatives, The Social and Learning Institute of Michigan City, Michigan City Service League, and the LaPorte County Meals on Wheels, were presented their checks at a ceremony at City Hall Friday morning.
Each group was awarded $5,746.16 from the ball proceeds.
“Mayor Parry who is just in awe of all three charities and what they do on a daily basis for our citizens and the citizens of LaPorte county, decided to award an additional $1,500.00 each to the groups from the Mayor’s Discretionary Fund to continue the great service they provide,” Mayor Parry’s office said in a press release.
