The following statement is from the owner of Marquette Mall, Moshe Shemian:

“Marquette Mall, which opened in 1967, was one of the first air-conditioned malls in the state. In addition to its poplar anchors, the mall housed a seven-story office tower that was state of the art.

“Nineteen years ago, Moshe Shemian and partners purchased Marquette Mall in hopes of someday developing it into a viable centerpiece property. Over the years some progress took place yet nothing came of the original dream and revitalization until recently when Moshe Shemian saw his own vision. That vision was to buy out his partners and proceed forward beginning a new dream for Michigan City!

“Mr. Shemian, beginning over a year ago, started believing with collaboration and support from the City of Michigan City, that “anything is possible”. He then began moving forward and is extremely excited and motivated to not only see this rapid movement towards this project that will bring jobs, and energy back to Michigan City, but will create a new and innovated Town Center to Michigan City!

“The Marquette Mall assembled parcels include approximately 26 acres including a two story 110,000 square foot store (Former J.C. Penney), an 80,000 square foot, one level store (Formerly Carson Pirie Scott), and a seven story 60,000 square foot office tower. STANDBY FOR EXCITING UPDATES AND DEVELOPMENT!”
