LAKE COUNTY, Ind. – There is a reduced speed limit of 35 mph for the work zone on U.S. 30 between the Illinois State Line and U.S. 41 that is ongoing through the fall.
There is currently a concrete restoration project taking place through this area, with full depth patching and joint repairs. There is also a preventative maintenance bridge deck overlay being done on the Plum Creek bridge between Hart Street and Moeller Street. This work is expected to wrap up on or around May 24.
U.S. 30 will then have alternating lane closures between Castlewood Drive and St. John Road beginning on or after Tuesday, May 28 through late October for a bridge replacement project over Dyer Ditch. The reduced speed limit will remain in place through the duration of this project.
INDOT encourages drivers to allow extra time when driving through this area and to follow traffic directions carefully.
Motorists should slow down, exercise caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
