On Sunday afternoon at 1:10 PM, deputies responded to the 3400 north block of US 35, reference a motorcycle crash with injuries. The initial on-scene investigation completed by Deputies Andy Morse and Sawyer Laffoon determined the following had occurred.
A green 2012 Can-Am Spyder motorcycle was traveling northwest on US 35. For an unknown reason, the motorcycle left the east side of the roadway in the 3500 north block. The motorcycle traveled across a lawn and collided with a tree and landscaping. The motorcycle continued traveling off the roadway and crashed into some boulders, before coming to rest in a vegetable garden.
Both occupants of the motorcycle were ejected.
The driver was identified as Steven A. DABNEY (58 YOA) of Kingsford Heights. The passenger was identified as Anna M. THOMAS (59 YOA), also of Kingsford Heights.
THOMAS was pronounced dead at the scene. DABNEY was transported by ground from the scene and later pronounced dead at an area hospital.
Toxicology tests results are pending; no further information is available for release.
