La Porte—At their last board meeting, La Porte Community School Corporation bid farewell to two long-serving Board of Trustee members, Rhonda Spence and Marie Gilliland. Together, they contributed 30 years of dedicated service to La Porte’s educational community.
Rhonda Spence, who served on the board for 18 years, and Marie Gilliland, who dedicated 12 years, completed their final terms with heartfelt messages of gratitude to their colleagues and the community. Throughout their tenure, both members consistently demonstrated their commitment to student success, approaching even the most challenging decisions with students’ best interests at the forefront. In an emotional moment, Gilliland concluded her service with a touching final, “Go Slicers,” from her seat at the board table. Board President Ryan Seaburg presented both members with commemorative plaques in recognition of their years of service and commitment to La Porte’s students and schools.
The board will welcome new members Monica Beaty and Tucker King, sworn in on January 13, 2025, to continue serving La Porte’s educational community.
