On December 8, 2024, the La Porte County Board of Commissioners passed an updated list of items that will be prohibited in La Porte County Courthouses beginning on February 1, 2025.
The new prohibited list of items was recommended to the commissioners for consideration by a ‘Courthouse Security Committee’ that was comprised of county officials who had been meeting for several months. The new list of prohibited items aligns with rules set forth by the Indiana Supreme Court.

Switchblades or any Spring-Activated Knives

Coupon Razor Cutters
Any / All types of Razor Blades

Glass, Hair, and Body Spray
Mace / Pepper Spray
Cigarette Lighters
Alcohol
Vaping Devices
Cellular Telephones
Tablets
Smart Watches
Cameras
Laptops
Any other recording devices
Key or Combination Locks

The aforementioned prohibited list of items is not intended to be all inclusive and will be updated as necessary.
If a #LCSO Courthouse Security Division Deputy deems a non-listed item to be dangerous at the Security Checkpoint, the item will not be allowed inside the courthouse.
