On February 3, Deputy Xavier Biggerstaff responded to Franciscan Health β Michigan City Campus regarding a case of child abuse / neglect involving a 7-week-old infant who was being treated for injuries. Upon gathering the initial information, Deputy Biggerstaff learned the infant was awaiting transport to a regional childrenβs hospital due to the severity of the injuries.
The following day, Detective Derrick Deck was assigned the case for further investigation. The infantβs parents, Kaitlyn M. WEISSERT (23) and Kyle A. HOLLIHAN (26), both of Michigan City, were identified as suspects of causing injuries to their child.
Detective Deckβs investigation findings were presented to the La Porte County Prosecuting Attorneyβs Office. Probable Cause was found in Superior Court I on March 25 to charge WEISSERT and HOLLIHAN with several felony counts.
On April 2, a Michigan City Police Department Officer located and arrested WEISSERT and HOLLIHAN on the warrants that had recently been issued.
WEISSERT and HOLLIHAN remain housed in the La Porte County Jail for the following offenses:

β’ Neglect (F5 Felony)
Both are being held on $25,000 cash-only bonds.
