Oasis whipped through Chicago like a hurricane Thursday night, launching their first U.S. show in more than 15 years in front of a sold-out Soldier Field. The Manchester mayhem did not disappoint.
Formed in 1991, Oasis has always been as famous for their anthems as for the fiery feuds between brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher. Fans weren’t entirely sure this reunion would even happen, but finger-crossing and prayers were answered when the band took the stage together, arms raised in solidarity.
They wasted no time, tearing into “Hello,” “Acquiesce,” and “Morning Glory” before powering through an ambitious 23-song set with no breaks.
The Oasis story began when Liam recruited older brother Noel to join his band. A move that gave the world one of rock’s greatest partnerships. With four groundbreaking albums and more than 100 million records sold, their mix of swaggering anthems and tender ballads defined an era. Yet, their notorious sibling rivalry brought Oasis to an abrupt end in 2009.
For nearly two decades, lawsuits and egos kept the Gallaghers apart. But in 2025, everything changed. A long-awaited reunion tour began in the UK and has now stormed across the U.S., with shows still to come in Mexico, South Korea, Japan, Australia, Argentina, Chile, and Brazil.
If Thursday proved anything, it’s that Oasis still has it. Their encore, which includes “The Masterplan,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” “Wonderwall,” and “Champagne Supernova,”reminded Chicago why these songs still stand among the greatest in rock history.
Oasis came, conquered, and left the Windy City buzzing. Next stop- two sold-out shows at MeLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.
