Yesterday, members of the Valparaiso Police Department participated in the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb, joined by the Valparaiso Fire Department and the Porter County Sheriff’s Department.
“Together, we climbed in honor of the 343 firefighters, 60 law enforcement officers, and countless other heroes who selflessly ran toward danger on September 11, 2001,” the Valparaiso Police Department said on its Facebook page.
“Each step we took today was a tribute to the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering spirit of those first responders who gave everything that day. We will never forget their bravery — and we will always stand united in their memory.”
Another stair climb took place in Michigan City at Ames Field with the Michigan City Fire Department participating.
The Salvation Army was also in attendance for support.
