In Lake County, Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Superior Construction will move to phase five of pavement patching work on I-65 between 93rd Avenue and Central Avenue next week.

Overnight lane closures will occur on I-65 southbound during the hours of 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. for one night to switch traffic into the next configuration. While weather dependent and subject to change, this is currently scheduled for Wednesday, October 1.

Once complete, I-65 southbound will have three lanes shifted to the left with the work zone on the right. The farthest left lane will continue to be a counterflow lane on the northbound side. Motorists in the counterflow lane will not have access to the U.S. 30, 61st Avenue or Ridge Road interchanges.

Northbound I-65 will remain in its current configuration with three lanes of traffic shifted to the right. Due to the location of the pavement patching during this phase of work, the ramp from eastbound and westbound 61st Ave to I-65 southbound will be closed through early November. The ramp from Ridge Rd to I-65 southbound remains closed through late November.

Pavement patching work will be ongoing through late November. INDOT encourages drivers to allow extra time when driving through this area and follow traffic directions carefully. Motorists should slow down, exercise caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
