On October 6, 2025, as a jury awaited to hear the State’s case against Demarcus Williams, Mr. Williams decided to plead Guilty to multiple felony counts, including Attempted Rape, Child Molesting, and Burglary.  Mr. Williams was charged from 3 separate incidents, all occurring in Michigan City, on July 9, 2020.  Mr. Williams will be required to register as a sex offender, and faces up to 40 years in the Department of Corrections.  Sentencing will be a later date before Judge Jaime Oss.
Prosecuting Attorney Sean Fagan said:  “Deputy Prosecutors Meghann Chonowski and Harry Peterson prepped hard for weeks on this case, and were going into trial with a strong case.  Preparing for trial takes a lot of time and focus, but having the Defendant plead Guilty at the very last moment is a satisfactory outcome.  I’m glad to have Meghann and Harry on my team.”
Prosecutor Fagan continued:  “The Michigan City Police Department was responsible for handling this case from the outset, with the lead investigator, Det Arwen LaMotte, now of the Chesterton Police Department.  We appreciate the great relationships we have with Chiefs Forker and Richardson, and the public can rest assured of the quality and caliber of both Departments.”
