The DEA will host National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at locations across the country on October 25th, 2025. The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible method of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.
DEA and their partners will collect tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid forms of prescription drugs during this event. For more than a decade, the event has helped Americans easily rid their homes of unneeded medications—those that are old, unwanted, or expired—that too often become a gateway to addiction. National Prescription Drug Take Back Day offers free and anonymous disposal of unneeded medications at local drop-off locations nationwide. In partnership with local law enforcement, National Drug Take Back Day has removed several thousand tons of medication from circulation since its inception.
Collection sites will not accept syringes, sharps, and illicit drugs. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain sealed in their original container. The cap must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage. Please remove any prescription labels prior to disposing of your unwanted medication. The Michigan City Police Department does accept old, unwanted, or expired medication at any time and has an easily accessible disposal bin located in our front lobby.
WHEN: Saturday, October 25th from 10 AM to 2 PM
WHERE: Michigan City Police Department’s Main Lobby
