The City of La Porte announced the Dumpster Program has returned for its fifth season.
Located at the Street Department (1206 2nd Street), the dumpster will be available to city residents Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Due to increased demand, the dumpster will also be available on the first and third Saturdays of each month from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (NOTE: Dumpster will be closed on the Fridays before the 1st and 3rd Saturdays to allow for more room the following day).
The City says to be prepared to show proof of residency in the City of La Porte.
“This is the perfect opportunity to get rid of those unwanted household items – just no tires or chemicals, please,” the City of La Porte said on its Facebook page.
“If the dumpster is full, please DO NOT pile trash on the ground in front of the dumpster. Likewise, if the gates are closed, that means the dumpster is full or is being dumped – DO NOT pile trash in front of the fence. In both of these instances, please call Code Enforcement at 219-362-0149 or try again another day.
We want to see this important resource continue in our community for years to come. With everyone’s help and cooperation, we can work together to clean up our community and keep this program going for as long as possible! Thank you to the La Porte Urban Enterprise Association for their continued support of this program!”
