The 2020/2021 Michigan City Community Enrichment Corporation grant application is only available on line at mccec.com. The deadline for submitting grants for this grant cycle is November 30th, 2019 at 11:59 pm. To qualify for this grant your organization must include proof that your services are performed within the boundaries of the Michigan City Area School District. The grant awards for this grant cycle will be distributed in March 2020. Our grants are very competitive. Last year we received $2.1 million dollars worth of grant requests and the Board must narrow the applications down to awarding just $650,000. Of the 49 grants that were awarded in the current grant cycle 27 of them were for $10,000 or less.
The Michigan City Community Enrichment Corporation is a public benefit corporation created in 1997 by an agreement between the Blue Chip Casino and the City of Michigan City. According to the Agreement the MCCEC receives $750,000.00 per year from the Blue Chip Casino to distribute to organizations that are recognized as a 501(c)(3) under the Internal Revenue Service.
This spring the Michigan City Community Enrichment Corporation awarded 49 grants $633,610 to organizations that directly impact the Michigan City Area Schools district. The Washington Park Zoo automatically receives $100,000 which is awarded in August of each year.
