On September 3, 2025, at approximately 4:48am, the LaPorte County E-911 Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call advising a man had been shot at a residence in the 1300 block of Franklin Street. Multiple Officers from Uniform Patrol Shift III responded to the scene as did the Michigan City Fire Department and LaPorte County Emergency Medical Services.
The first responding units arrived on scene and found twenty-five-year-old Michigan City resident, Jacob Addison, inside. Mr. Addison had been shot and critically injured. Life-saving measures were immediately started. Mr. Addison was transported from the scene, by LaPorte County EMS, to Franciscan Hospital. He was
then transferred from Franciscan to South Bend Memorial Hospital for advanced care.
The Investigative Division was summoned to the scene and took over the investigation. This investigation is ongoing with evidence being collected and interviews taking place. No arrests have been made yet and no further information will be released at this time.
