One person was injured and a suspect arrested in connection to a shooting Sunday in Michigan City.

On Sunday just before 6:30 p.m., the dispatch center received a 911 call regarding a person who was shot at the BP gas station, located at 1302 East Michigan Boulevard.  The victim was then transported to the Michigan City Police Department for medical treatment by a witness at the scene.  Officers provided medical treatment to a 40-year-old Michigan City resident who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the left leg.  LaPorte County EMS arrived at the Michigan City Police Department and transported the victim to Franciscan Health Hospital in Michigan City with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect left the scene in a vehicle that was captured on video surveillance and on multiple Flock Falcon license plate reading cameras.  Officers located the suspect and suspect’s vehicle at a residence in the 500 block of Tremont Street with assistance from the Flock Falcon license plate reading camera network.  Investigators served a search warrant at a residence in the 500 block of Tremont Street that produced additional evidence associated with this investigation.

The suspect was detained pending criminal charges being filed by the LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Office.  Detectives from the Investigative Division are continuing with this investigation.  Police say numerous articles of evidence were collected from different locations, and multiple interviews continue to take place.

The investigation is ongoing.
