The Michigan City Police Department gave the following information about the 2025 Michigan City Citizen’s Police Academy:

The Michigan City Police Department invites community members to experience what it’s like to serve as a police officer through our 2025 Citizen’s Police Academy (MCCPA). This 6-week program runs every Thursday from October 16th to November 20th, 2025, 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM, at the Michigan City Police Department, 1201 E. Michigan Blvd.

The MCCPA brings residents and police together in a hands-on learning environment, offering participants a unique look into modern policing. Each week, participants will receive professional instruction on topics such as criminal law, patrol tactics, search and seizure, crime scene processing, K-9 operations, and more. You’ll interact with officers, command staff, and specialized units in a safe and engaging setting.

All instructors are State Certified law enforcement professionals who train both recruits and veteran officers. By the end of the academy, participants leave with a greater understanding of police work and how we serve the Michigan City community.

Class size is limited. Applicants must be 21 or older, complete an application, and pass a background check.
