On Sunday, (9/21) at 8:09 AM, deputies responded to the 200 block of Lakeview Drive in Fish Lake regarding a burglary in progress resulting in one person being shot. The initial on- scene investigation completed by Deputy David Francis and assisting deputies determined the following occurred.

A 66-year-old homeowner arrived at his residence and entered through an overhead garage door. He encountered a Hispanic male carrying two rifles inside his garage. The subject immediately fled from the residence.

The homeowner proceeded inside and located a second Hispanic male within the interior of his residence. A scuffle ensued between the two and ended when the homeowner was shot. The intruder immediately fled from the residence.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division were contacted and responded to the  scene.

Deputies set up a perimeter and searched the area for an extended period. However, the two burglars were not located.

The homeowner sustained an upper body gunshot wound. He was transported from the scene by ground to a regional hospital for treatment.
