3-D Pen Workshop

Come hang out in the children’s makerspace and create whatever you can imagine with 3D pens! No experience necessary. Children ages 6-17. Kids under 12 must have a parent or guardian attend with them.
Needle Arts Club

Author Michael McColly
Thursday, December 4 5:30pm
Author Michael McColly will read from and discuss his book, Walking Chicago’s Coast: A 63-mile Journey to the Indiana Dunes. His book blends travelogue, memoir, and environmental reportage as he takes readers on an urban journey. The Press Bookstore will selling his books and Michael will sign them.
Holiday Stuffie Sleepover

Drop off your stuffie to see what they get up to at night! They make mischief at the library, of course! See what fun they have when you pick them up. Please make sure this is a stuffie that is okay to remain at the library over the weekend. Early pick up may result in no photobook. For kids (and toys) of all ages.
Read to a Dog – Teddy!

Therapy dog Teddy the goldendoodle visits the library! Bring your favorite story or pick one up from the library and read the words (or pictures) to Teddy. He’s a great listener! For kids and grown-ups of all ages.

Photos with Santa

Santa stops by the library for photos with kids of all ages. Kids will have a chance for a brief individual visit with Santa and parents/guardians can take a photo of their child. The library is not providing the photos.
December Scavenger Hunt – Happy Holidays
Are you up to the task of finding all of the hidden holiday photos in Youth Services? Upon finding them, win a 3-D printed prize. The pictures move every week for a new chance to play.
Art Exhibition Wall
Please stop in to see our newest solo art exhibition. Laura Kittle, a Michigan City-based artist, creates vibrant pieces in both abstract and impressionistic realism styles. Her work draws inspiration from nature and the dynamic beauty of Lake Michigan, often featuring bold colors and expressive compositions. Laura holds a BA in Fine Arts and her work has been shown at numerous regional venues and was recently honored with a Merit Award at the 2025 Chesterton Women’s Club Annual Art Show. Laura’s work will be displayed from November 24 through January 16.
Hat, Mitten, & Boots Collection
From December 1-15, the library is collecting boots, hats, and mittens for the Salvation Army. Please drop off new or gently used donations (adult or child size) to the bucket under the slat wall. Thank you for providing warmth to the community!
