Michigan City Area Schools Announces Calendar for the 2026-2027 School Year
Michigan City, IN – December 30, 2025 – Michigan City Area Schools has released its calendar for the 2026-27 school year. Highlights include:
August 12, 2026 – First Day of School for Students
September 7, 2026 – Labor Day (No School)
October 7, 2026 – Early Release Day
October 15-16, 2026 – Fall Break (No School)
November 5, 2026 – Early Release Day and Student-Led Conferences/ Parent Conferences
November 23-27, 2026 – Thanksgiving Break (No School)
December 21, 2026 – January 1, 2027 – Winter Break (No School)
January 4, 2027 – eLearning Day (Asynchronous – posted assignments)
January 18, 2027 – Martin Luther King Jr. Day (No School)
February 15, 2027 – Presidents’ Day (No School)
February 24, 2027 – Early Release Day
March 24, 2027 – Early Release Day and Student-Led Conferences/ Parent Conferences
March 26, 2027 – Good Friday (No School)
April 5-9, 2027 – Spring Break (No School)
May 26 – Last Day of School for Students
May 28, 2027 – Last Day of School for Students
June 2 -29, 2027 – Summer School
June 6, 2027 – Michigan City High School Graduation
On Early Release days, students will be dismissed early to allow teachers and staff to participate in professional development. Middle and high school students will be dismissed at 11:00 am; elementary students will be dismissed at 12:00 noon. Students will receive assignments to complete at home during the afternoon.
On the scheduled January 4th “Asynchronous” eLearning Day, students will sign in from home to complete posted assignments. Additional “Synchronous” eLearning Days may be scheduled in the event of inclement weather; students will sign in from home on these days for live instruction.
