Incumbent serves as Custodian for the Commissioners, responsible for maintaining clean buildings and grounds as assigned.
 
DUTIES:
 
Supervises community service workers, making work assignments, ensuring proper completion of duties, providing corrective instruction and recording hours worked. Complete maintenance worksheets as required.
 
Maintains floors, including dust and wet mopping, stripping, preparing and waxing floors, and vacuuming carpets. Periodically moves office furniture to maintain floors or to rearrange as requested.
 
Cleans all assigned areas, such as offices, closets, meeting rooms, hallways, stair wells, entrances, elevators, and break areas, including, but not limited to, emptying/cleaning ash trays, dusting, polishing furniture, walls, doors, benches and woodwork, cleaning floor mats, changing light bulbs, washing blinds, windows and window sills.
 
Cleans and disinfects assigned bathrooms, including, but not limited to disinfecting and cleaning urinals, toilets and sinks, checking and refilling paper products and soap dispensers, washing walls and mirrors, sweeping and mopping floors and emptying trash cans.
 
Empties trash cans daily, including shredding paper, carrying trash to pick-up site, inserting clean liners and periodically cleaning trash cans as needed.
 
Maintains grounds, including picking up litter daily, clearing walkways and parking lots, spreading salt and shoveling/sweeping snow.
 
Delivers paper supplies to offices as requested.
 
Performs related duties as assigned.
 
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
 
High school diploma or GED.
 
Working knowledge of and ability to make practical application of basic janitorial and sanitation requirements for assigned areas of responsibility.
 
Working knowledge of applicable safety practices and procedures with ability to take proper precautions and ensure safety of self and others.
 
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, work orders and product application directions, such as cleaning solutions.
 
Ability to operate all assigned tools and equipment, including mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners, screw drivers, floor buffer and paper shredder.
 
Ability to physically perform assigned duties, including walking/standing for long periods, lifting/carrying objects weighing 25-50 pounds, crouching, kneeling, bending, reaching, climbing ladders, pushing/pulling/handling/grasping objects.
 
Ability to follow all County personnel policies and rules, and work alone and with others in a team environment with minimum supervision.
 
Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, other County personnel and visitors, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities and disabilities.
 
Ability to occasionally work extended, weekend and/or evening hours, according to shift assignment.
 
Possession of a valid driver’s license and demonstrated safe driving record.
 
RESPONSIBILITY:
 
Incumbent performs simple, repetitive duties according to specific instructions and guidelines. Incumbent’s duties require minimum accuracy and skill to prevent damage to tools and equipment and prevent injury to self and others.

Incumbent serves as Maintenance Engineer for the Commissioners, responsible for performing routine maintenance and repairs for County buildings.
 
DUTIES:
 
Ensures proper working order of lights and ballasts in County buildings, including repairing/replacing fixtures and replacing light bulbs.
 
Performs various plumbing repairs, including identifying problems and determining appropriate action, cleaning/clearing blocked drains, and ensuring proper working order of toilets and sinks.
 
Assistant in inspects and maintains furnace and air conditioning equipment, changing air supply filters as needed.
 
Utilizes carpentry and electrical skills to perform general repairs on various items as needed, such as chairs, desks, and security locks.
 
Inspects and monitors related contractual work, such as electrical and plumbing, to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards. Prepares and maintains various records, including maintenance and repairs completed.
 
Discusses with supervisor, and orders parts and materials as authorized. Picks up and delivers supplies and equipment, as needed.
 
Maintains clear parking lots by removing snow and dead tree limbs, and trims trees as needed.
 
Performs related duties as assigned.
 
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
 
High school diploma or GED. Ability to obtain required certifications.
 
Working knowledge of and ability to make practical application of maintenance requirements for assigned areas of responsibility, and basic plumbing, electrical, welding and carpentry.
 
Working knowledge of applicable safety practices and procedures with ability to take proper precautions and ensure safety of self and others, and ability to operate a variety of power tools and equipment, including drills, power and chain saws, power drain cleaner, snow plow, drill press, table saw and welding torch.
