Chesterton, IN — The Duneland Chamber of Commerce hosted its Annual Meeting on April 22, bringing together business leaders, members, and community partners for an evening of reflection, recognition, and forward-looking conversation.

The event highlighted key updates from the Chamber’s newly developed 2026–2029 Strategic Plan, recognized the service of outgoing board members, and featured a fireside chat with Vanessa Green Sinders, President and CEO of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce.

During opening remarks, Chamber President Maura Mundell shared a high-level overview of the organization’s strategic direction, emphasizing the Chamber’s continued commitment to serving its members while driving responsible economic growth that enhances the region’s quality of life.

The strategic plan outlines four key focus areas:
• Business visibility and community connection
• Small business growth and capability
• Business voice and community leadership
• Chamber sustainability and capacity

“These priorities will guide how we evolve to meet the needs of today’s businesses and tomorrow’s opportunities,” said Mundell. “While our mission remains the same, how we deliver value will continue to grow and adapt.”

The Chamber also took time to recognize and thank outgoing board members for their dedication and service, including Dawn Thostesen, Laura Zaranski, and Dr. Chip Pettit, along with special recognition for past Board Chair Lisa Human.

A highlight of the evening was the fireside chat between Mundell and Sinders, which explored key legislative updates from the Indiana General Assembly, workforce trends, housing challenges, and the future of economic development across the state. Topics included childcare access and employer tax credits, workforce participation, talent pipelines, and the increasing connection between housing availability and business growth.

Sinders also shared insight into the Indiana Chamber’s ongoing priorities, including efforts to address rising healthcare costs through initiatives like ChamberCare and long-term goals outlined in Indiana Prosperity 2035.

As the Chamber looks ahead, leadership emphasized a strong focus on measurable progress, member engagement, and strategic alignment to ensure continued impact for businesses and the broader Duneland community.

“The success of this plan depends on collaboration,” Mundell added. “Our strength has always come from our members and partners who show up, engage, and invest in the future of our region.”

The Duneland Chamber extends its appreciation to all attendees, sponsors, board members, and partners who contributed to a successful and meaningful evening.
