The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) announced O’Bannon Elementary has been named the 2017-2018 Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program School of the Year. O’Bannon Elementary is located within the School City of Hammond. In its third year, the Indiana Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program School of the Year Award provides formal recognition to schools who provide outstanding service to students. The goal of the program is to improve students’ overall diet while creating healthier eating habits that impact their present and future wellbeing. As the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program School of the Year, O’Bannon Elementary will receive a banner and a framed certificate from IDOE, along with a $250 award, presented by Piazza Produce.
