Indiana Dunes Tourism and Visit Michigan City LaPorte honored businesses, organizations and individuals for providing outstanding service to the community and visitors on Wednesday afternoon. The R.O.S.E. (Recognition of Service Excellence) Awards recognize those who go the extra mile to make Porter and LaPorte Counties great places to live and visit. Tom Dermody, a former member of the Indiana House of Representatives, LaPorte businessman and candidate for LaPorte city mayor, was the keynote speaker. Visit Michigan City LaPorte was a co-host of Wednesday’s awards ceremony and presented their R.O.S.E. Awards to the winners including: Accommodation of the Year Award: Bridge Inn; Best Fest Award: Taste of Michigan City; Employee of the Year: Brandon McKeenan, Bistro on the Greens; Green Award: Michigan City Area Schools; Landmark Award: Phyllis Jones, LaPorte Sunflower Fair; Outstanding Elected Official Award: Mayor Ron Meer; Restaurant of the Year: Bistro on the Greens; Volunteer of the Year Award: Pat & Bruce Frankinburger, Barker Mansion; and Putting LP County on the Map: Ric Federighi, 95.1 FM and AM 1420 WIMS.
