The 1920’s will be alive in the Barker Mansion gardens during the June 24 Midsummer at the Mansion event. The first-time event will hearken back to Catherine Barker’s social life in the 1920’s, when she was a young woman known to make bathtub gin and patronize the finest clubs in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Paris. The midsummer event begins at 7 pm Central Time. The garden will be the primary setting for the event, but guests will be able to tour all three floors of the historic home. Games of the era, including bocce ball and croquet, can be played throughout the evening by guests as a playlist offers popular songs of the time. Tickets for the 21+ event are for sale on Eventbrite or by calling (219) 873-1520 and cost $20 per single ticket or $30 per couple. The price includes two glasses of beer or wine, a food sampling, and a self-guided mansion tour. The Barker Mansion is located at 631 Washington Street in Michigan City, IN.
