Two people were arrested early Thursday after a robbery in Jasper County lead to a pursuit that ended in Lake County.

At around 3:36 a.m. the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a robbery that had just taken place at the Loves Travel Stop located at 11207 W. State Rd. 10. Jasper County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the location.

While enroute to the scene, the caller provided additional details, stating that two men, donning ski masks, had brandished a firearm and demanded money from the store clerk. Prior to the Deputies’ arrival, the suspects had fled in a Nissan Northbound on I-65. Another witness informed the authorities that they were behind the suspect vehicle.

The suspect vehicle was located heading northbound on I-65, prompting the initiation of a traffic stop, but the suspects failed to comply, and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit continued northbound on I-65 until stop sticks were deployed by officers from the Hobart Police Department, which caused the suspect vehicle to come to a stop around the 257 mile marker. Both the suspects were apprehended.

The investigation is ongoing. Charges are currently being filed, but in accordance with standard procedure, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office will refrain from disclosing names until the probable cause affidavits have been filed and accepted by the courts.
