The Chesterton Fire Department rescued a man from a roof over the weekend, according to a Facebook post from the Town of Chesterton.
The Town of Chesterton says according to the Chesterton Fire Department, the man was “stuck on his steeply pitched roof—unable to balance upright after removing a backpack leaf blower.”
“Firefighters were dispatched to the scene, on Quail Court, at 2:16 p.m., and on their arrival found the man lying prone and on his back on the second—or higher—roof of his home, in danger of sliding down to the lower and much narrower porch roof,” the Town of Chesterton reported.
According to the CFD’s report: “Crew deployed its 24-foot ladder and three personnel went up to the first-floor roof to stabilize the man. Firefighter Cosme got up to the second-floor roof and tied the male off with a safety rope. We assisted him down to the first floor roof and then down the ladder to safety.”
The firefighters of B Crew then returned to the roof to finish the job by clearing the shingles and gutters of leaves.
