The Lake County Sheriff’s Department and ISP Lowell Troopers both responded to the scene of the shooting that occurred Saturday evening at the strip mall east of I-65 on SR 2. The sheriff’s department will be the lead agency for this investigation. All information will come from their PIO. There is no ongoing threat to the public and the scene is secure. The Lake County Sheriff’s Department is currently investigating a fatal shooting that occurred this evening at a business in unincorporated Lowell.
Shortly after 7:00 p.m., Lake County police officers and Indiana State Police responded to a call at Karmic Sunshine, an antiques and accessories shop located at 2996 W. 181st Avenue.
A preliminary investigation indicates that a male suspect allegedly shot and killed a female victim inside the location and wounded a second female, age 24, who was attempting to escape. The 62-year-old suspect is believed to have subsequently died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The wounded woman who survived was hospitalized in stable condition.
There was also a young child and an adult male who were present during the incident and were not injured.
There is no remaining danger to the public.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No further details are available for release at this time.
