UPDATE ON UNINCORPORATED LOWELL FATAL SHOOTING FROM 8/22/26 from the FACEBOOK page fo the Lake County Sheriff’s.
This is a developing investigation and details are subject to change. Here’s what we are able to release at this time:
It’s believed the incident began with a domestic argument at Karmic Sunshine, an antiques and accessories shop located at 2996 W. 181st Avenue in the area of unincorporated Hebron and Lowell, Indiana.
Preliminary information indicates the argument between a man and his girlfriend turned physical. A 56-year-old woman was shot and died at the scene. Her 62-year-old boyfriend, the suspected shooter, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The daughter of the woman who died, a 24-year-old woman, was also present during the dispute and tried to escape but was shot in the arm. She was transported to a Chicago hospital where she was listed as stable.
The Lake County Coroner’s Office is in the process of contacting the family of the suspected shooter in this incident and will release his identity and the identity of the deceased female victim at a later time.
Detectives have learned that the shooting suspect and the owner of the antiques store were living in a trailer behind the store.
The husband and young child of the 24-year-old woman who survived the shooting were also present but were not injured.
My thoughts and prayers are with all those whose lives have been affected by yesterday’s tragic shooting. We are keeping the victims, their families, and everyone impacted by this heartbreaking incident in our prayers as this remains an ongoing investigation.
