A Michigan City man was arrested following a vehicle pursuit early Tuesday. On Tuesday, at approximately 3:15 a.m., Chief Deputy Matt Wolfe observed a vehicle traveling northbound on County Road 900 West at a high rate of speed. Wolfe caught up to the vehicle and activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop at US 421/Toll Road. The vehicle fled reaching speeds up to 90 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is reducing the County Bonus Antlerless Quotas (CBAQ) in Wabash, Porter, and Allen counties from two bonus antlerless deer to one bonus antlerless deer for the coming deer hunting season. This change is a result of the impact of epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD) on the deer herd in northern Indiana this year. Changes to the CBAQ will not affect the Deer Reduction Zones. The City of La Porte is reminding residents that WM’s Large/Heavy Trash Pick Up is just a two weeks away. Running Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 11, city residents will be able to place large and heavy trash on the curb for pick-up on their regular trash day. LAKE COUNTY, Ind. - An INDOT contractor will close State Road 312 between Parrish Avenue and State Road 912/Cline Avenue on or after Wednesday, Sept. 25. State Road 312 will be closed through the end of October for a small box culvert replacement. INDOT says motorists should seek an alternate route. The official detour will follow U.S. 20, U.S. 12, and State Road 912. This project was originally announced earlier this year but was delayed due to utility conflicts.

PORTER COUNTY, Ind. - Watch for lane closures on U.S. 20 between Dombey Road and Willowcreek Road beginning on or after Monday, Sept. 23. U.S. 20 will be reduced to one lane in each direction for approximately four weeks for a bridge deck overlay preventative maintenance project over CSX railroad. The eastbound lanes will be closed and westbound converted to two-way traffic during phase one. Traffic will switch to the eastbound side during phase two.
