La Porte County Symphony Orchestra announces 34th Annual Drayton Family Children’s Educational Concerts

The La Porte County Symphony Orchestra (LCSO) will be presenting their 34th Annual Drayton Family Children’s Educational Concerts on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at La Porte’s Civic Auditorium. Music Director, Dr. Carolyn Watson , will be on the podium leading the musicians of the LCSO on this date. There will be three performances:  9:30 a.m., 11:10 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. A special fanfare, composed by Rick DeJonge and commissioned by Garry & JoFran Bendix, will have its world premiere at these concerts. Trick-or-Treat information and tips provided for Michigan City

Michigan City will celebrate Halloween in traditional fashion, with Trick or Treat planned for Sunday, Oct. 30, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mayor Parry wants to remind residents to proceed with the activity in a safe manner. “We encourage families to participate in Trick or Treat, and we are asking that parents take extra precautions to keep everyone safe.” A a few tips were provided by the city: - Visit only homes that have porchlights turned on. - Stay together in small groups. - Wear highly visible clothing. - Walk on sidewalks, and not in the roadway. - Be

Meals on Wheels of La Porte County announces Trivia through the Decades Tour

Meals on Wheels La Porte County has announced their Trivia through the decades fundraiser on Oct. 15. The goal is to raise $15,000 to help support the Meals on Wheels program of La Porte County. They provide daily meals delivered by volunteers to support the elderly, home-bound and/or disabled members of the community that would otherwise go without. Recycling & Waste Reduction District of Porter County Hosts Final Household Hazardous Waste Collection

The Recycling & Waste Reduction District of Porter County will host the final household hazardous waste collection event on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at the Porter County Expo Center located at 215 E. Division Road, Valparaiso, IN 9am to 2pm CST. Participants are asked to enter through Gate 3. The event will feature tire collection for Porter County residents. Tire fees may apply. Chesterton Police Commission sets trick or treat time and date

The Chesterton Police Commission announced that trick-or-treat will be held in the Town of Chesterton from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, according to the Town of Chesterton. Police Chief Tim Richardson noted the towns of Porter and Burns Harbor and the City of Portage have all set trick-or-treat on the same day and at the same time. The Town of Chesterton reported that as of Friday morning, the Porter County Sheriff’s Police had not yet announced the date and time for trick-or-treat in the unincorporated areas.
