Fire Breaks out in Detached Garage

Jackson Township – Liberty and Westville firefighters responded to a working detached two-car garage fire in the 800 block of 625 East in Jackson Township. No one was home at the time of the fire and neighbors reported hearing a loud bang and shortly there-after saw fire. Responding crews observed a prominent smoke column, or “header,” that was visible from several miles away, indicating a well-developed fire prior to arrival. The #LCSO announces the arrests of John H. LOWE (58) and Hayden M.C. LOWE (22), both of La Porte, following an investigation that began last month. A pet owner who resides in the 5100 west block of CR 150 North reported on October 21 to Deputy David Francis that she had found her Beagle deceased on a nearby parcel of property. The Beagle had sustained a fatal injury to the rib cage area. Her other canine, a Chocolate Labrador, was still missing. Franciscan providing Thanksgiving meal prep boxes for families facing food insecurity

NORTHWEST INDIANA – Franciscan Health is hosting three Mobile Markets across Northwest Indiana aimed at providing families experiencing food insecurity with the groceries needed to prepare a full Thanksgiving meal. On October 17, 2025, Judge Julianne Havens, Circuit Court Judge, sentenced Thomas Anderson to 19 years DOC, 6 years suspended, as a result of a plea agreement between Mr. Anderson and the State of Indiana. Personnel from the #LCSO conducted a compliance check on Thursday on a selected group of registered Sex Offenders. The unannounced check of the 37 Sex Offenders deemed 33 of them as being compliant with their information on the Sex and Violent Offender Registry (SVOR). The remaining four (4) were found to be non-compliant and a criminal investigation of each will now begin.
