The City of New Buffalo is asking the public to stay off the shelf ice in a recent Facebook post.
The city says that while the shelf ice may look cool, it is extremely dangerous and unstable.
They also stated, “There is no way to tell when the land ends and the water begins, so please stay off the shelf ice.”
