On Saturday, September 29, the Michigan City High School Wolfpack Marching Band competed in the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Festival Class Championship at Crown Point High School. The Wolfpack Band received an overall Rating of Gold while also picking up a special Distinction Caption in the area of Visual Performance. This year's show is titled, "A Dream Within a Dream." The Michigan City Police, after working relentlessly throughout the night into Friday, have officially charged two subjects in the homicide investigation in the 200 Block of E. 6th Street that occurred at approximately 8:30pm, on October 4th. The victim, Nathanial Havis age 60, of Michigan City was shot and killed hours before his 61st birthday and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the LaPorte County Coroner. The first ever Blow Away Breast Cancer rally at La Porte Hospital will commemorate breast cancer awareness month in the community and serve to celebrate and honor those who have been affected by a breast cancer diagnosis. A concrete restoration project will start Wednesday in the southbound lanes of I-65 in Lake County, between 61st Avenue and U.S. 30. During the project, southbound traffic on I-65 will be split, with one lane to the right and two lanes to the left during the day. The fall wild turkey hunting season and the early archery season started Oct. 1 and firearms season runs from Oct. 17-28. The late archery season runs from Dec. 8, 2018 to Jan. 6, 2019.
