State Revolving Fund helps communities finance drinking and/or waste-water projects INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Finance Authority announced today it has closed approximately $119 million in low-interest financing for the month of June to help the Cities of Brazil, Crown Point, Goshen, Rochester, and Union City to fund drinking and/or waste-water infrastructure projects. By leveraging the SRF program, the communities named today will save an estimated aggregate of $50.2 million in principal and interest costs, compared to open-market financing. SRF program projects must meet the same level of scrutiny as projects directly funded by the federal government.   City of Brazil

STARKE COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana Department of Transportation maintenance crews will resurface a section of State Road 8 beginning on or after Monday, July 7. Be alert for road crews on State Road 8 between Range Rd and U.S. 35, with flaggers directing traffic in the area where work is occurring. This work should take approximately five days to complete, with milling operations expected to take two days and paving operations three days. Michigan City, IN – Several local organizations have announced a community-wide school supply drive, which runs through August 5. Supplies collected during the drive will be distributed to local students who are in need of materials to start the school year during the annual Back to School Rally. Many area businesses have set up collection bins to accept donations from their employees and the general public. In Michigan City today, milling (removal of the surface) has started on Kentucky Street from Garfield Street to Ninth Street, William Street from Kentucky Street to Ohio Street, Ripley Street from Kentucky Street to Ohio Street, and Arthur Street from Ohio Street to Wabash Street and will continue until complete. Paving will be done on Henry Street from Manhattan Street to Wabash Street. All road construction is weather permitting and subject to change. La Porte County Symphony Orchestra announced the passing of Richard Watson and made the following statement: "It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved friend and phenomenal musician, Richard Watson. "Richard was a wonderful human, musician, and teacher! Richard was our principal tuba and has been performing with the LCSO for 31 years. He also had been an adjunct professor at Valparaiso University for over 30 years. Richard received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, and his graduate degree from Northwestern. PORTER COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana Department of Transportation contractor LaPorte Construction Company will close State Road 8 between C.R. 150 W and C.R. 50 W on or after Monday, July 7. State Road 8 will be closed through late August for a bridge deck overlay project over Cobb Ditch. Motorists should seek alternate routes. The official detour will follow U.S. 231, State Road 10 and State Road 49. The current closure on State Road 49 between C.R. 1050 S and C.R. 1125 S (south of Kouts) for a bridge deck overlay at Reeves Ditch will open before State Road 8
